How to play Dragon Tiger
- Bet on Dragon, Tiger or Tie before the timer ends.
- The dealer deals one card face up to the Dragon box and one to the Tiger box.
- The higher card wins. Cards rank from King (highest) down to Ace (lowest). Suits do not matter for the main bet.
- Winning bets are paid, and the next round starts straight away.

Ace is always the lowest card in the Dragon vs Tiger game. This catches out many beginners who are used to Teen Patti or poker, where Ace is high.

The rule that sets the house edge is what happens on a Tie: if the two cards have the same rank, Dragon and Tiger bets lose half the stake. With 8 decks, a tie comes up about once every 13 or 14 rounds (7.5%), and that is where the casino's 3.73% comes from.
Compare that with baccarat, where the Banker bet costs only 1.06% and a Tie returns your stake in full. Dragon Tiger is simpler, but it is almost four times more expensive per bet.
Side bets
Many Dragon Tiger tables add side bets on each card:
- Big / Small: big is 8 to King, small is Ace to 6.
- Odd / Even: odd is A, 3, 5, 9, J, K; even is 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, Q.
- Red / Black: the colour of the card's suit.
On Big/Small and Odd/Even, a 7 loses both sides. That makes each of these bets cost about 7.7%, double the main bet. Red/Black has no 7 rule on most tables, but check the paytable before you play it.
Dragon Tiger strategy
You cannot predict the next card, so the only strategy is to keep your costs low:
- Stick to Dragon or Tiger. At 3.73%, they are the cheapest bets on the table.
- Never play the 8 to 1 Tie. At 32.8%, it is one of the worst bets in any casino.
- Count rounds, not just money. Because the game is so fast, set a limit on time as well as on stake.
- Ignore the trend board. The road maps show past results. Each round is dealt independently, and a streak of Tiger wins does not make Dragon "due".
